Chin Yin Buddhist Temple – Events throughout February
We visited this temple this time last year for a homeschool field trip and they were very friendly and welcoming. They encouraged us to check out their New Year celebration they had coming up. Visit their website to view their full calendar of events, including the Grand Offering to Buddha and the Lion Dance performance.
Chinese New Year Parade, Chinatown – February 14, noon
Come and experience the sights of Chinatown in Edmonton and watch a Lion Dance demonstration.
Chinese New Year Marketplace, EXPO Centre – February 6, 1-6pm
This free event includes parking, family activities, workshops and a marketplace. If you’re looking for an adult night out, check out the Northlands calendar for information on other Chinese New Year events including the Mixer and Gala.
We plan to take in a Lion Dance performance, visit the Muttart and discuss the celebrations of Asian Cultures. Whenever we drive downtown, the girls always request a drive through Chinatown to see the Gate of Happy Arrival. How are you celebrating Chinese New Year and the Year of the Monkey?
