Painted Fireworks & Fireworks in a Cup

New Year’s Eve is tomorrow night and our plans include sledding and taking in the early fireworks in St. Albert. Once we return home to get the kids to bed at a decent hour, perhaps some Chinese food as we ring in the New Year relaxing at home.

I have assisted on many LEGO builds this past week, so to change it up today we brought out paint and made fireworks at home. My friend shared this craft with me a few days ago and with only a few supplies needed it’s a quick and easy craft with the kids on these cold winter days. You can find the link here.

Another fun activity in preparation of our NYE events – fireworks in a cup. An easy science experiment and all you need is food color, oil, water.  I melted some coconut oil I had on hand and it worked well. You can discuss the different densities of oil, food coloring and water and why some things mix and others don’t.

How are you ringing in the New Year’s? Do you have special plans out or a family night at home?  Happy New Years to all my readers!  Lots more to come in 2016!
