Paws the Cat Cafe
There’s a new Cat Cafe in town, full of more beautiful, adoptable kitties! Paws the Cat Cafe opened this month just north of downtown at 10588 109 Street. The kitties in the cafe come from the Edmonton Humane Society and are adoptable after going through an application process.
The cafe offers a great selection of coffees, teas, Italian sodas and snacks. There is a small seating area in the cafe section, or you can take your beverages into the cat lounge to one of the tables in there (just watch your drink because kitties are curious creatures). Admission to the cafe is $12.50 and includes an hour in the cat lounge and one drink.
Although located on the busy 109 Street, there is a small parking lot behind the building, accessed off 106 Ave, and street parking in the area. The staff were very welcoming and introduced us to all the kitties.
Children 7 and up are allowed in the lounge so I surprised my 8 year old with a visit to the cafe after our mid year homeschool facilitator meeting. We had been following Paws’ Facebook page for opening details in the past few weeks. When I told her where we were going she was practically vibrating with excitement! She loved browsing the cat books, coloring in the Pusheen coloring book, and checking out all the cubbies where the kitties were napping.
As with most new small businesses, they could use a bit of help getting off the ground. They have an ATB Booster campaign running until December 23 with a great list of rewards available as part of your contribution. You can find the link to their campaign HERE.
Be sure to book a time slot on their website as the cat lounge can only accommodate 8 people at a time. They will try their best to fit in drop-ins as well though. Stop by for a hot drink and let your stresses melt away with kitty cuddles!
